Above-standard Carpentry
Built Once. Built Right.
At Strava Group, carpentry is not treated as a trade that simply “gets you to the next stage.” It is the structural backbone of the entire build, and it is where long-term quality is either locked in or compromised forever.
Led by licensed builder and carpenter Starvrow Tobia, Strava Group delivers precision carpentry for clients who prioritise accuracy, structural integrity, and longevity over minimum compliance. With over a decade of hands-on experience across high-end residential construction, complex renovations, extensions, and commercial projects, our carpentry is guided by one principle:
How something is framed determines how it performs for decades.
A different way of building
Starvrow began his carpentry apprenticeship at the age of 15. From the outset, the focus was never on speed or volume, but on understanding how buildings actually behave over time.
After years working on high-end homes and structural projects, the same issues appeared repeatedly:
  • Frames that technically met code but still moved
  • Walls out of square from early stages
  • Twisted studs and plates
  • Sagging headers and undersized beams
  • Ineffective or failing bracing systems
  • Subfloors that squeak, deflect, or fail prematurely
These issues were not always illegal, but they were avoidable. Strava Group was established to close the gap between minimum standard construction and best-practice carpentry.
our carpentry Philosophy & specification
Our carpentry work is governed by an internal Above-Standard Carpentry Specification, a documented system developed from years of site experience, structural observation, and real-world performance.
This specification goes beyond minimum Australian Standards where it matters most. It defines how our framing is planned, executed, and quality-controlled, with a focus on:
  • Structural accuracy from the ground up
  • Proper load paths and tie-down continuity
  • Straight, square, and true frames
  • Enhanced fixing methods to reduce movement and shrinkage
  • Thoughtful detailing that anticipates how materials expand, contract, and age
Every decision is made with one question in mind:
How will this perform in 10, 20, or 30 years?
While not all details of our specification are publicly released, we are happy to walk clients through our approach during a consultation and explain exactly how our carpentry differs from typical builds.
Clients planning a new build, renovation, or extension are encouraged to enquire about our carpentry specification.
What we specialise in
Strava Group provides high-end carpentry services across Sydney, including:

Whether engaged as part of a full build or as a specialist carpentry contractor, the standard remains the same.
Built for clients who care about quality
Our clients are not looking for shortcuts. They are looking for confidence. They want to know their home has been framed correctly, not just quickly. They understand that high-quality carpentry is often hidden once linings are installed, but it is felt every day in how the home performs.
Strava Group works with clients who value long-term structural performance, clean and accurate workmanship, and a builder who understands why things are done, not just how.
