The Story Behind Strava Group
Strava Group was founded by Stavrow Tobia, a licensed NSW builder whose career began on the tools as a carpenter.
Working in the trade taught Stav that great homes aren’t built through luck. They’re built through thousands of small decisions made correctly every single day.
After years as a carpenter, he progressed into site and project management, overseeing residential and commercial construction projects across Sydney. That experience provided a unique understanding of construction from every angle. Not just how to physically build a project, but how to coordinate trades, manage budgets, communicate with clients, solve problems before they become expensive, and keep projects moving efficiently.
Having worked both on the tools and in project management means every decision is backed by practical building knowledge and real project experience.
When you work with Strava Group, you’re dealing directly with the builder who will oversee your project from the initial consultation through to final handover, not a salesperson or account manager.
Why We Started
Throughout years in construction, one thing became clear. Too many homes are built to meet the minimum standard instead of the highest practical standard.
The National Construction Code sets the minimum legal requirements for construction. While compliant work may satisfy those requirements, we’ve seen first-hand how shortcuts, poor detailing and rushed workmanship often become expensive problems years after the project has been completed.
Strava Group was established because we wanted to build differently. Rather than asking “What’s the minimum required?”, we ask “What’s the best way to build this so it lasts for generations?”
That philosophy guides every decision we make.
